Sodalite is an easily obtained gemstone.  Sodalite is a rich blue ornamental mineral originally discovered in Greenland in 1806. The name Sodalite reflects the stone’s sodium content. Sodalite is found in all shades of blue, ranging from pale to deep.

Sodalite has a Mohs hardness of 5-6 and it is dense, making it perfect for carving. It is also commonly used as an insulator and electrical conductor because it is relatively non-toxic and resistant to heat/fire.
